Additional information: On 12/08/1942 the HMS Nigeria was torpedoed in the Mediterranean during Operation Pedestal. Around 50 of the crew, including Cecil Johnstone, were killed. Operation Pedestal was an operation to get desperately needed supplies to the island of Malta, which was blockaded at that time by Axis forces.
